White Pearl: A Diver’s Paradise

If you’re looking for a diving experience like no other, then it’s time to visit White Pearl Resorts! From the expertise of our PADI-accredited dive instructors to the spectacular natural beauty you will only find at Mozambique resorts, the dive experience of a lifetime is waiting for you. It’s time to discover the world under the water for yourself.

Ponta do Ouro: An Underwater Paradise

Ponto do Oro is located at the southern end of a marine conservation area (the Partial Marine Reserve, or PPMR), so the waters around White Pearl are teeming with a spectacular diversity of marine life, from reef sharks and dolphins to turtles, whales, and a dazzling variety of bright-hued tropical fish. Our waters are also home to some of the healthiest and most pristine coral reefs in the world, providing a rich and colourful underwater environment for divers to explore. It’s quite literally a landscape that’s out of this world.

The crystal-clear waters which Ponto do Ouro are known for don’t just extend to the beach, either! Here you’ll find excellent underwater visibility, with an average range of 20 to 30 metres, allowing divers to see everything around them with ease. With the water temperature ranging from 25 to 30 degrees Celsius year-round, you can snorkel and dive in comfort, too.

The White Pearl Diving Experience

At White Pearl, our PADI-accredited dive centre offers you a memorable recreational scuba diving experience built around world-respected sustainable best practices. The PPMR was the first marine Transfrontier Conservation Area in Africa, and 80% of the Loggerhead and Leatherback turtle nesting sites in Mozambique can be found right here. This spectacular area of natural diversity overlaps with the Maputo Special Reserve, too, leaving White Pearl Resorts nestled at the heart of one of the most beautiful marine conservation landscapes in the world.

With 18 magnificent dive sites, ranging from a beginner dive depth of 7m to the experienced dive depth of 45m, divers will experience an array of marine biodiversity you will find nowhere else, including unusual and coveted sightings like the Manta Ray. The Bass City Reef has a series of algae-covered rocky outcrops that attracts some of the most impressive marine life in the world, and the reef itself is named after the friendly Potato Bass. You might even encounter one yourself if you’re diving at the 20m depth!

The premier Pinnacle Reef is an advanced drift divers playground at 35m and deeper and has unrivalled shark encounters in Mozambique. Pinnacle Reef has recorded sightings of 19 species of shark over the years, including Bull shark, Hammerhead, Silvertip, Blacktip, Leopard sharks and the endangered Dusky and Whale sharks.

In short, when you dive at White Pearl Resorts, you have the opportunity to experience one of the most pristine and spectacular dive landscapes in the world. Magic awaits on every dive!

Sustainable, Ethical Diving at White Pearl

The PPMR Diver Code of Conduct is strictly enforced at the resort, and all our divers need to adhere to this practice. Full scuba diving gear is provided, and special equipment requests will be made available for rental if booked in advance. Our dive instructors and dive masters operate using conservative diving practices in terms of depth, dive times, climatic conditions and safe marine wildlife interaction, so you not only have the benefit of their expert local knowledge but the peace of mind of knowing you’re in safe hands every step of the way. You will never be taken outside of your certification, or exposed to risky and unethical ‘tourist trap’ scenarios.

The White Pearl 9m RHIB dive boat is launched directly from our spectacular beach into the surf for a short ride to the first reef on your itinerary. When not diving, guests may enjoy an ocean safari, snorkel nearby reefs with your guide to enhance the experience, or view the Humpback and Southern Right Whales up close by boat in the bay (in season).

These gentle giants move through our waters between the months of July and November with their calves, offering some of the best whale watching in the world. If the opportunity presents itself on our ocean safari, you could even get a chance to swim with dolphins or the endangered Leatherback and Loggerhead Turtle! If you visit between November and March, your ocean safari will also be followed by an evening beach walk to view these majestic turtles as they lay their eggs at the high water mark. Both precious and endangered, White Pearl is proud to support ethical conservation efforts for these majestic reptiles, following the Peace Parks™ Protection of the Endangered Leatherback and Loggerhead Turtle Program.

We’re proud to be able to offer you a comprehensive range of diving packages, from programs for advanced divers to PADI-approved beginners tutorials and even a children’s program, so there’s plenty for divers of all ages and skill levels to enjoy. If you’re looking for one of the most spectacular dive experiences of a lifetime, look no further than White Pearl resorts, where ethical conservation, spectacular dives, and knowledgeable guides intersect for a world-class diving experience like no other.
