Your Diving Destination of Choice: Liezel van der Westhuizen Visits White Pearl
It’s always exciting to meet new friends here at White Pearl Resorts. We pride ourselves on being one of the best Mozambique Resorts, and it’s great to hear how much our guests enjoy their stay at the resort! We were recently joined by Liezel van der Westhuizen, a noted South African radio and TV presenter, and she was kind enough to share her thoughts on the experience.
White Beaches and Beautiful Views
Liezel, like many South African visitors, was quite delighted to find out how close and convenient we are to find. Although we’re technically a whole country away, White Pearl lies only two hours drive from Maputo airport, and can be reached within a mere 30 minutes drive from the SA border too!
What did she have to say about the resort itself? Let’s take a look.
“It is so picturesque – teeming with white beaches that can be enjoyed from any one of the
twenty-two individual cabins that are spaced well apart enough from each other for
guests to enjoy privacy and the local views. Each of the cabins comes with the luxury of its own butler, as well as a plunge pool. Our butler -Nelson- was outstanding! The lodge also has two main pools that can be enjoyed, and are kid-friendly. The pools are endless pools too. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner is on offer at the lodge.”
Outstanding Service
In fact, we’re thrilled that Lizelle enjoyed the service overall at White Pearl so much. She went as far as to call it outstanding, and we’re blushing! But let’s let Lizelle tell the story.
“Their activities centre staff (Domingo, Spiro and Basillios) right through to the cleaning staff and the service staff, are beyond reproach where good service and hospitality is concerned!”
Fun in the Sun
There’s plenty to keep you busy here at White Pearl, including the activity centre, where we offer a range of non-motorised water sports, from kayaking, stand-up paddle boarding, and bodyboarding, to surf-skiing. We also offer horse-riding and biking on the beach for some added romance!
For many people, however, the lure of the sea is the primary drawcard. Lizelle, of course, took a trip to the reef.
“The skipper of the boat too, Sam, is incredibly qualified. Every day’s dive was a
boat-launch dive into the waves, and he showcased his abilities in guiding the boat and us
through them, ensuring that we got in and out, as well as returned to shore, safely. As a regular diver, this is always great to see, and to know that you are in safe hands all the way.
“Despite the reef being relatively small, it is teeming with fish. We got the chance
to spot a 2-metre black reef shark, a 1-metre white reef shark, a guitar shark, 20 lionfish, and
a variety of other sea life we hadn’t seen before. There is also a Turtle Walk, to take a look at the turtles that come up onto the beach in order to lay their eggs and birth their young.”
We were also excited to see that Lizelle, as so many other guests do, responded super-favorably to our attempts to give back to Mother Nature. We make sure to hold a beach clean-up once a week, ensuring all plastic is removed from this corner of paradise. As one of the best hotels on the beach in Mozambique, it’s the least we can do to help keep this gorgeous corner of the earth as beautiful as nature intended. We also use sensor-triggered lighting in our public bathrooms to cut down on energy waste, and stay away from plastic bottles. For real change to happen globally, we all need to do our part, and we try our best.
What was the final verdict?
“Definitely worthwhile to come here, to unwind, relax, and enjoy nature at its best. This is a premier diving destination, or a perfect fit-cation destination, for sure!”
Lizelle, we’re thrilled you enjoyed your stay so much. We try to offer every guest the perfect blend of relaxation and fun, and we’re so glad to have made your stay special.
